The Bolsa Chica Land Trust, who in conjuction with the Amigos de Bolsa Chica helped save the Bolsa Chica Wetlands is now trying to save a Native American burial site.   Caslled the ORA-83 project, it encompasses 6 acres that is near the Brightwater Homes Development on the Bolsa Chica Mesa.

For many  years advocates of saving the Bolsa Chica claimed that there were many skeletal remains, cogstones and bones that should be protected.  Recent unearthings have found over 100,000 bones and artifacts and over 80 human skeletons.

There are several new videos that cover this area and the need for protection and “What’s Up” editors are proud to be introduce you to the BCLT group and point out that there is still a long way to go in protecting this 9,500 year old site.

How To Run A Final Four Pool
Eight people are assigned numbers one through eight.

Then eight slips of paper are put in a hat.  The slips say  “West Even”, “West Odd”,  “East Even”, “East Odd”, “Mid-West Even”, “Mid-West Odd”, “South Even”, “South Odd.”

Fold the slips of paper and draw them randomly. The person with the Even numbers has the 8 teams in their division that were seeded w/even numbers, i.e. 2,4,6,8,10, 12,14,16 and, naturally, those with Odd have the other eight teams in their respective division.

It makes following March Madness a lot more fun. You can play for who takes out the garbage for a month  or who washes the car, etc.   You can award prizes anyway you choose; for example the last four people eliminated can be winners of different prizes, the best prize going to the person with the winning team.  Or you can award prizes to the first and second finisher or all prizes to the winner.
Hurry up though.  The NCAA Tournament starts this week!

STORMY

Hi – I’m Stormystormy_jun30_09751.

Did the green eyes get you? They say I’m handsome and
sweet, all at the same time. I love to be with other kitties, and I’m
awesome with humans. I’m not sure what I like better — playing? sitting in
your lap? hanging out on a sunny windowsill? I guess all of it! It would be
so cool to find someone to love, who’d be interested in a cat like me, who
has so much to offer. Plus, don’t forget my beautiful green eyes. I’ve
lived for awhile without my very own human, but I’ve never given up – I’m
still as sweet as ever. Wanna be my buddy?

BLAZE

Purrs, anyone? I love to give out purrs. In fact, the minute you pick me
up, my motor starts a-revvin’! I love humans, love em a lot. The people who
know me say I’m one of the most amazingly friendly kitties they’ve ever
met. I don’t know why – I just love to be with people, so I give them a lot
of kisses and head butts. And, as if that weren’t enough, I also am a good
playmate with other kitties. They say I’d be the perfect companion for
someone who is looking for an affectionate kitty with a lot of love to
give. What do you say – am I the one for you?

want to play?

want to play?

It’s true!  I’m still just a teenager and I’m as big as a house!  Here’s
the really sweet part – take a look at my extraordinary appearance –
there’s not another one like me!  I started out life with
my Mommie at an industrial building.  She was left there by
her people when she got pregnant.  The people at the building were very
nice to her and helped her find a rescue to care for her and us.  We’ve
been very happy in rescue, but we’re finding our forever homes now.   I am
packed and ready to go to my new home. I love to purr away and show my
love to you. I love my bouncy balls and play mice. My foster mom says I
have a lot of personality and she’s right! She especially loves the
freckles on my nose — she thinks they are so cute!  If you are looking for a new adorable best friend, here I am. Lets hang out together! Please remember my name, Osgood! lbfelines@yahoo.com or 562/453-7377

“howyah doowin?” (aka “Howie”)

HOWYAH DOOWIN (aka Howie)

That’s a really big name for just one cat, but it’s really just exactly my
foster family would talk to me each time they greeted me.  See I was
separated from my Mommy way too early and I didn’t get my bite etiquette
lessons learned.  I’ve been working very hard on that and I’m really pretty
good with it now.  My foster mom says that I’m a big ol character because I
love to play and really love when she gets the toys out to play with me.
I’m also always trying to look innocent after I’ve failed a little at my
lessons.  I’m a really good guy (and a really big guy now), but I need a
home with people who understand that I would never intentionally hurt
anyone – people who will help me pass the tests for my lessons.

LACEY  & DAISY

Hi!  we’re Lacey and Daisy ..and you’re right – we’re twins!  We were a very lucky litter
of kittens.  At just 6 weeks old, we were turned into animal control.  Now,
that’s a scary place for the little ones like us.  The really good news is
that we were immediately saved by rescue and we’ve been living the good
life in a perfect foster home.  As you can probably tell, I’m very attached
to my twin sister, Daisy. We want to stay together forever. I know that it
will be challenging for our new family – learning to tell us apart. We
won’t object if you accidentally call one of us by the wrong name. We’ll
just love you more for calling us! lbfelines@yahoo.com or phone: 562/453-7377
